The month-long break is to help author Takeru Hokazono recover.

The popular shōnen manga series “Kagurabachi” is going on another hiatus, and this time it’s for a whole month! As per the post on the manga’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the series will go on a break starting on 29 June, 2026, when the 31st issue of the Weekly Shōnen Jump goes on sale. The serialisation will resume around August, but the exact date has not been revealed yet.

How long is the hiatus for Kagurabachi going to be?

Chapter 124 of the Kagurabachi manga was released in Weekly Shōnen Jump issue 29 on 15 June (14 June globally). Chapters 125 and 126 will likely be released on 22 and 29 June in Japan. However, after the release of chapter 126 in issue 31 of the magazine, Kagurabachi will enter a month-long hiatus and return sometime in August. This means there will be no new chapters in the month of July.

As per the post from the editorial department, this hiatus is to ensure Takeru Hokazono can rest and recuperate well before delivering work on a steady schedule.

However, this is not the first time Kagurabachi is going on a hiatus this year. The manga also took a one-week break in May due to some health issues Hokazono was facing. Fans are hoping he recovers completely before resuming the manga.

What is Kagurabachi about?

Kagurabachi began publishing in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in September 2023, and has 11 volumes released so far. It has also been announced that the popular shōnen manga is getting an anime adaptation by Cypic in April 2027

Viz Media publishes the series in English and describes the story as:

As a young boy, Chihiro trains every day under his father to become a swordsmith. Although different in temperament, the two spend peaceful days laughing and working together. But one day, tragedy strikes… Now Chihiro burns with hatred and sets out to exact revenge. Following clues left behind by a ruthless yakuza organization, Chihiro confronts the Hishaku, a deadly group of sorcerers that may be behind his father’s murder!
