Toei Animation helms once again in bringing World Trigger to life.

Initially announced just this 1 December, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the World Trigger anime has confirmed that the reboot project will totally remake Season 1, which originally aired in 2014.

A more faithful adaptation for fans to look forward to

According to the information released, the reboot will adapt the first three arcs of the manga the anime is based on, those being the: Border Enlistment Arc, large-scale Neighbor Invasion arc, and the beginning of the B-Rank Wars arc.

Other details, like cast and staff, are still being kept under wraps, but Toei Animation is once again helming as the studio for the reboot adaptation. More details will be revealed during the official Jump Festa Event on 20 December, 2025.

Based on Daisuke Ashihara’s 2013-2018 manga series, the World Trigger anime first came out in 2014 and was followed by a sequel season in 2015. The second and third season of the series both premiered in 2021. Crunchyroll currently streams the anime.

Manga Plus and Viz Media publish Ashihara’s manga in English with Viz also publishing it in print.

Viz Media describes the story as:

Earth is under constant threat from Neighbors, invincible monsters from another dimension that destroy our way of life. At least we have the elite warriors of Border, who co-opt alien technology to fight back!

Our hero Osamu Mikumo may not be the best agent, but he’ll do whatever it takes to defend life on Earth as we know it.

When Osamu meets a feisty humanoid Neighbor named Yuma, everything that he thinks is right is turned on its head. Can the two natural enemies ever become friends?
