The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the 2014 anime series World Trigger announced that a reboot project is in the works!
A brand new ‘relaunched’ website was opened for the upcoming project and revealed a short trailer and key visual. More details will be revealed soon!
World Trigger anime reboot project details
This project was first teased on Monday, 1 December. With the key visual and title trailer, it has now been confirmed. It also seems that Toei Animation, who animated the first World Trigger anime, will continue to work on this project as well.
However, no other cast or staff details have been revealed as of yet. But the staff is set to announce more details about the reboot at this year’s Jump Festa event on 20 December, 2025.
Based on Daisuke Ashihara’s 2013-2018 manga series, the World Trigger anime first came out in 2014 and was followed by a sequel season in 2015. The second and third season of the series both premiered in 2021. Crunchyroll currently streams the anime.
Manga Plus and Viz Media publish Ashihara’s manga in English with Viz also publishing it in print.
Viz Media describes the story as:
Earth is under constant threat from Neighbors, invincible monsters from another dimension that destroy our way of life. At least we have the elite warriors of Border, who co-opt alien technology to fight back!
Our hero Osamu Mikumo may not be the best agent, but he’ll do whatever it takes to defend life on Earth as we know it.
When Osamu meets a feisty humanoid Neighbor named Yuma, everything that he thinks is right is turned on its head. Can the two natural enemies ever become friends?
