Kouki and Rin’s combined power overpowers the Pumpkin villain.
In the previous chapter of Dandadan, we saw how Kouki and Rin jointly evolved their powers to defeat the man in the pumpkin suit who was attacking them with fire. In the recent manga update, we see that their combined power is enough to subdue the villain, and keep the others at bay. However, the Red Baron aka Enenra, has another plan up his sleeve.

Dandadan Chapter 223 recap
The issue begins with the Pumpkin villain, whose name is Jack Wisp, being thrown back by Kouki’s insect power. We see that both Kouki and Rin’s outfits have evolved to give them fly and cockroach themed costumes. Mai tells Rin that her idol power has increased due to this costume evolution. Jack Wisp attacks them with fire again, but the bugs protect the girls. Rin and Kouki start to perform together and their powers combine into a massive wave that throws Jack Wisp down to the ground floor.
Jack Wisp is surrounded by insects as soon as he hits the floor, and tries to burn them away with fire. However, Kouki uses her million bugs to smother his fire and his body completely. The girls wonder if they have beat him, but the other new villain, called Vakappa, clears away the insects with a large bubble of water that seems to float around him. However, Vakappa can’t send the water up towards the girl as Rin’s anti-gravity powers are stopping him.
Red Baron aka Enenra asks Jack Wisp to make a fire for him away from the girls and tells Vakappa that while fighting, a warrior always reads the terrain. Rin and Kouki notice that there’s something on fire, but before they can do anything, a gust of smokey wind blows their way. Suddenly, we see Red Baron grabbing Rin from behind and covering her mouth so she can’t sing. He comments that even if she can manipulate gravity, she can’t save herself from smoke, which is his power.
Vakappa then traps Rin in a water bubble while Jack Wisp grabs a hold of Kouki. Red Baron asks Kouki to admit defeat so he can steal her power. Kouki agrees readily, as she doesn’t want them to harm Rin in any way. Jack Wisp then takes out one of the Kozuka knives and makes a cut on Kouki’s hand, likely to take away her Yokai powers.
Dandadan Chapter 223 review
The Red Baron is slowly becoming one of my most hated villains in Dandadan. Not only did he attack a very injured Seiko before, but this time he ganged up on two teenage girls with newly acquired powers with two of his henchmen. I do hope someone appears in the next chapter to whip these villains into shape. It would be really sad if Kouki and Rin lose their powers after achieving such a dope evolution.
