Momo’s whistle conjures the alien who’s under Saint-Germain’s command.
In the previous chapter of Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan manga, we saw Okarun finally awakening the Ogre Club. In the new chapter, we see that he can’t keep using it for a long time as he’s not used to the weapon yet. However, an unlikely ally comes to their rescue when we see the Jet Booster Exosuit alien, previously affiliated with the Kur, appear and beat up the Serpo. However, the bicycle-riding Mummy is still hell-bent on killing Okarun and Momo.

Dandadan Chapter 217 recap
The chapter begins with Okarun activating the Ogre Club and Momo asking how he can do that. However, the club starts to grow small again, and Okarun says that since he just learned how to do this, he can’t summon spiritual power very well yet. He also tells Momo that it was given to him by her grandmother Seiko. Momo asks him to hurry up and activate it again, which stresses Okarun more. The Serpo aliens unleash another attack on them which almost knocks them down into the pit of darkness surrounding them.
The Serpo aliens tell the Mummy, who they called Mr. Dris, that they have got him covered. Okarun asks Momo to jump to the wall to secure herself but she’s too scared. Mr. Dris attacks them while riding his bicycle, and Okarun barely fends him off with the Ogre Club. Three Serpo aliens attack Okarun and Momo together again, which almost knocks them off balance. But before they can do it again, someone else appears on the battlefield.
We see the Jet Booster Exosuit alien, who Okarun and Kinta fought off some time ago, appear in front of the teenagers. The alien angrily asks what they’re doing and Momo wonders if she’s on their side. The alien says she wants to kill them and the Serpo aliens wonder what the Kur combatant is doing here. We see in a flashback that Saint-Germain, who rescued and now employs the alien, asked her to help whoever blows the special whistle. Momo was given the whistle by him, and as she blew it some time ago, the alien now has to help them following Germain’s orders.
Despite wanting nothing more than to kill the humans, the alien starts beating up the Serpo as she was ordered to rescue Momo and Okarun. Momo comments that the new alien is a Tsundere and Okarun suggests they run while they have a chance. However, as Mr. Dris comes back to attack them, Okarun faces him with the Ogre Club while Momo jumps safely to the wall. He tells her to go find Jiji and ask for help. Okarun cuts off Dris’ hand by remembering his training, but his mummy bandages start reattaching the appandage immediately. Before Okarun can do anything, Mr. Dris reaches out and stabs him in the chest.

There is a special kind of hell for all authors who leave readers on a terrible cliffhanger. The addition of the alien and Okarun activating his Ogre Club were all amazing moments. However, the fact that he suddenly gets stabbed in the chest at the end of the chapter and we have to wait another week to find out what happened is criminal. As usual, Tatsu’s art in the chapter was stunning, although seeing Momo so powerless while knowing what she is capable of breaks my heart. I hope my favourite girl regains her memories soon.
