The upcoming age-gap romcom anime “Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You” just released new character visuals. Moreover, a new character and his voice actor was also revealed. The series is set to premiere in July 2026, but the exact release date remains unknown.
Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You new cast and other details
Sasaki’s co-worker Suzuki will be voiced by Shinya Takahashi. The VA will also be the MC for the Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You stage at AnimeJapan. The main trailer of the anime, as well as a key visual, and details about the theme songs will be revealed at the stage.
Previously revealed main cast of the anime includes:
- Takuya Satō as Sasaki
- Seena Hoshiki as Yamada/Tayama
Visuals for all the announced characters have also been released.
Asahi Production is producing the series, but other details about the staff remain unknown. The anime is based on Jinushi's manga series, which was first serialised as a webcomic on X (formerly Twitter) in March 2022. It was then serialised in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine in August 2022. Eight tankōbon volumes of the series have been released so far. Square Enix also publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:
At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can't find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he's made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn't realize he already knows her!
