Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You anime details
Other than the July release window, it has also been confirmed that Asahi Production is animating the series. Unfortunately, no other staff details have been revealed so far. A new key visual of the main characters has also been released.
Previously announced main cast members of the anime are:
- Takuya Satō as Sasaki
- Seena Hoshiki as Yamada/Tayama
The anime is based on Jinushi’s manga series, which began as a web manga on X (formerly Twitter) back in March 2022. It began publishing in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine in August 2022. The series won the 2022 Next Manga Award in the web category.
Square Enix publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:
At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can't find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he's made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn't realize he already knows her!
