The anime is based on the 1983 manga by Tetsu Kariya and Akira Hanasaki.
A few days ago, Shin-Ei Animation announced two new anime projects. One was new Atashin'chi NEXT episodes, and the other was a brand new remake of the classic cooking anime Oishinbo. Titled “Shin Oishinbo”, the new series revealed its 2027 release window in a new update. Moreover, the anime’s main cast has also been revealed.

What do we know about the Shin Oishinbo anime so far?
The three main cast members of the anime are:
- Yohei Azakami as Shiro Yamaoka
- Hitomi Sasaki as Yuko Kurita
- Akio Otsuka as Yuzan Kaibara
The anime will be released in 2027, the exact premiere date remains unknown.
Kenichi Nishida is directing the new anime at Studios Synergism and Vega Entertainment. Takahiro Nagano handles series composition while Nozomi Kawashige designs the characters. Shin-Ei Animation handles production.
What is Oishinbo about?
The Shin Oishinbo anime is based on The Oishinbo manga, written by Tetsu Kariya and drawn by Akira Hanasaki, began serialising in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits magazine in 1983. In 2014, the manga went on an indefinite hiatus which it still hasn’t come back from yet.
Shin-Ei Animation released a 136-episode anime adaptation of Oishinbo from 1988 to 1992. It also received two television anime movies in 1992 and 1993.
