The next chapter of the series will be published on 27 July.
The popular modern slice-of-life fantasy manga series “RuriDragon” has announced another hiatus. Series author Masaoki Shindo announced on his X (formerly Twitter) account after the release of Chapter 45 that the manga will be back again on 27 April, 2026, in the 22-23 combined issue of the Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine.
RuriDragon hiatus news
In this week’s Weekly Shōnen Jump Issue 15 of 2026, the 45th chapter of RuriDragon was released. However, the excitement quickly turned into worry when Shindo announced that the series will go on another hiatus. Only to come back two months later on 27 April in the 22-23 combined issue of the magazine.
Although the exact reason behind the break has not been announced, it can be assumed that it’s related to the ongoing health issues of the mangaka. Although it has a bi-weekly release schedule, the manga has previously gone on multiple breaks due to Shindo’s health problems. The manga entered a one-month hiatus after the release of Chapter 44 on 25 January, 2026, and goes on yet another hiatus after the release of just one more chapter.
Although fans are disheartened, most of them want the author to take care of their health and get better soon. RuriDragon also announced an anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation back in December 2025. Fans are looking forward to seeing their favourite dragon girl on the screen.
The manga is serialised in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine. The series has released four collected volumes so far, three of which have been released in English. Viz Media publishes the chapters of the manga digitally in English and describes the story as:
Well, a half dragon. Her mom admits Ruri inherited her draconic traits from her father, who, yes, is actually a dragon. As if dealing with curious classmates wasn’t already challenging enough, Ruri and her dragon genes literally turn up the heat in the middle of a lecture. Her ordinary life is about to be anything but!
