Unji Zuma finally wakes up.
The latest chapter of the Dandadan manga was an eclectic mix to say the least. At first, we saw the Red Baron walking into a trap set for him by Saint-Germain and Sir Vlad. We then see Unji Zuma, who has been absent ever since the fight in Shimane. He seems to be well, and Daiki has also returned to his family. However, we see Seiko thanking the masked priests who helped her save Momo.

Dandadan Chapter 277 recap
The chapter begins with the two new powers activating in Sir Vlad’s body, and it changes his face into a more demonic one. Both Saint-Germain and Red Baron praise him for being able to handle four Yokai powers at once so incredibly. Vlad is happy with the applause, when Saint-Germain suddenly asks if they should keep the momentum going. Sir Vlad exclaims in joy and says they should. But the Red Baron protests, saying they put those powers in other people’s bodies to evolve them. It would be too dangerous to put them in his body all three at once.
Saint-Germain says he’s quite haughty, and Red Baron falls to his knees and begs for forgiveness. Sir Vlad also says that it would take Baron 100 more years to speak to Saint-Germain as an equal. Saint-Germain says that Baron is clumsy and inept, even though he tries to appear to be competent. All Baron has managed to do is imitate his plan to create the ultimate yokai. Baron tries to protest, saying he was the one who first talked about the ultimate yokai. But Saint-Germain stops him again saying he is very haughty. Vlad then tells him to go easy on Red Baron because although he is clumsy, he is adorable. He then calls Red Baron towards himself.
While walking closer to Sir Vlad, Red Baron thinks to himself that he will one day get revenge on Saint-Germain for treating him like this. When he reaches Vlad, his demonic face smiles at him and asks him to admit defeat. Red Baron is shocked, and looks back at Saint-Germain, who tells him that the fifth power of the Fairy-Tale Card is The Little Red Riding Hood, which is none other than the Red Baron. This was basically a trap to make him give up his power to Vlad.
In the next panel, we see Unji Zuma, who finally wakes up. He looks for his brother Futa, who died a long time ago. As he yells for Futa, Miss Adachi, the teacher with the power to control the Jiangshi zombies walks in the room and is happy to see him awake. Zuma asks who she is and she answers that his father asked her to keep an eye on him. He follows her to the kitchen and she says she will call his father now. Zuma turns on the TV and the news channel shows that Daiki has returned to his parents in his original body, which relieves Zuma.
While talking on the phone, Miss Adachi points out that Masamichi Bega, Zuma’s adoptive father is also on the TV. He jokingly calls him a gorilla. Suddenly, he says he doesn’t have time for this and tries to get out of the house. Adachi asks where he is going, to which Zuma says he is going to meet a woman. Next we see Seiko sitting up on the Shimane hospital bed and thanking the masked priests, saying the entire Ayase family is deeply indebted to them. Turbo Granny is also seen lying beside her on the bed.
The head priest tells her to drop the formal tone as they also made plenty of mistakes. Seiko says it was enough that they were able to return Momo to her original size. The priest says that due to their advanced ages, they relied on younger folks to help out. However, they later realised that there was one whose background they didn't know. Unfortunately, now they will have to track the individual down.
Dandadan Chapter 227 review
It was satisfying to see Red Baron’s downfall after the last few chapters. However, we still don’t know if admitting defeat toSir Vlad would mean he loses his powers or if he dies. It also means, after Red Riding Hood, the only Fairy-Tale Card power that’s left is Pinocchio. Zuma doesn’t seem to remember that his brother has died, but remembers Daiki. This might mean he has partial amnesia. Thankfully, his eyesight has come back to normal. Unfortunately, his powers are now gone, although he doesn’t seem to have realised it. It also seems likely that the unaccounted for helper that the priests are looking for is Basho, the one who stole Momo’s powers (also likely Zuma’s).
