Almost a year since its announcement, Yona of the Dawn Season 2 has finally given an update.
The manga for Yona of the Dawn ended last year, and with it came the news that after more than a decade, the anime series is finally picking up where it left off on Season 1.
Now, 10 months since the official announcement from the Hana to Yume manga magazine where Yona of the Dawn serialised, waiting fans have finally been given an update: Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War studio, Pierrot Films, is taking on the helm as the sequel season's animation studio.
Unfortunately, that's the only thing we know so far for Yona of the Dawn Season 2.
What do we know about Yona of the Dawn so far?
No other details about the sequel anime has been revealed.
Yona of the Dawn was adapted into a 24-episode anime television series which aired from October 2014 to March 2015. Season 1 was animated by Studio Pierrot.
The Yona of the Dawn manga by Mizuho Kusanagi began back in 2009, and ended in December 2025. Viz Media publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:
A red-haired princess loses her family and her kingdom… Now she must rise and fight for her throne!
Princess Yona lives an ideal life as the only princess of her kingdom. Doted on by her father, the king, and protected by her faithful guard Hak, she cherishes the time spent with the man she loves, Su-won. But everything changes on her 16th birthday when tragedy strikes her family!
Yona reels from the shock of witnessing a loved one's murder and having to fight for her life. With Hak's help, she flees the palace and struggles to survive while evading her enemy's forces. But where will this displaced princess go when all the paths before her are uncertain?
