"New High School! Kimengumi” anime unveils sporty Udegumi cast

The gag high school life anime begins in January 2026.

It was announced back in October that Motoei Shinzawa’s gag manga High School! Kimengumi is getting a remake anime. It takes place in a high school and follows the hilarious interactions between different types of students. Previously, the voice cast for the Kimengumi (Funny Face Club) and Bangumi (Delinquent Gang), were revealed. In the recent update, the official website and social media accounts of the anime revealed the cast for the Udegumi (Sports gang).

  • Undo Kai voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi

Undo Kai’s name is a pun on the term ‘sports festival’ in Japanese as he’s the leader of the sports club. Other members of Udegumi are:

  • Intahai Susumu voiced by Masayuki Sato
  • Konjo Yutaka voiced by Shuya Watanabe
  • Suji Chikara voiced by Ayumu Asakura

Kazuaki Seki is directing the anime at Seven with Takashi Nishikawa working as the animation director. Shigeru Murakoshi is in charge of series composition while Yuka Abe is designing the characters. Night Tempo is in charge of in-show song production, and Slow Curve handles the planning and production of the series.

The anime is being adapted from Motoei Shinzawa’s classic gag manga series from the 1980s. It was adapted into an anime in 1985 and ran till 1987. The story of the anime focuses on the five members of the Kimen Gumi (Funny Face Club): Rei Ichido, Go Reietsu, Kiyoshi Shusse, Jin Daima, and Dai Monboshi. They all attend the Ichiou High School and have distinct and wildly eccentric personalities. The new transfer student Yui Kawa is intrigued by them and she and her friend Chie Uru start spending time with the group.
