The first anime series based on High School! Kimengumi aired from October 1985 to September 1987.
The story of the anime focuses on the five members of the Kimen Gumi (Funny Face Club): Rei Ichido, Go Reietsu, Kiyoshi Shusse, Jin Daima, and Dai Monboshi. The new transfer student Yui Kawa is intrigued by them, and she and her friend Chie Uru start spending time with the group.
