Okarun confesses to Momo even though she doesn’t remember their bond.
In the previous chapter of Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan manga, we saw that Momo has not only lost her memories and psychic powers, but also her ability to perceive the supernatural. In the latest chapter, her friends Miko and Kei try to make her and Okarun go out on a date. This works out better than they thought, but as always, danger follows wherever these kids go.

The issue begins with Sanjome approaching Momo and asking her if anything’s wrong. She can’t remember him, but he says she just doesn't remember. He offers her a whistle and asks her to blow on it when she’s in trouble. Later, when Momo asks Miko and Kei about Sanjome, they tell her that he’s always been here. They remind her that she also forgot Okarun. Momo gets sad and says that they might have been friends before, but there’s now an alienation between her and Okarun’s friend group.
Miko and Kei tell her to stop moping and go on a date with Okarun. She doesn’t want to at first, but they approach Okarun together and ask if they can all visit the ‘Mummy Man ‘ together. It turns out that a mummy from ancient Egypt is being shown in the museum. When they visit together, Okarun goes on a tangent about how Egyptians used to believe that having an immaculately mummified body could allow them to be resurrected in the afterlife. He says that it’s also a theory that mummies are what aliens leave behind as they can’t function without wearing human skin.
Momo starts laughing and tells Okarun that it’s a pretty interesting theory. He asks if she believes in aliens now, and Momo says she doesn’t, but he tells an entertaining story. Suddenly, she realises that Miko and Kei have left them alone. They come outside and Momo declines when Okarun offers to take her home. She suddenly asks the boy if he loves him. And even though he’s flustered, Okarun admits that he loves her. Momo gets flustered at his honesty, and asks how he could just say it like that. Okarun tells her that he can say it to her because she probably likes him too.
Momo is flabbergasted and asks why she would ever like someone like him. Okarun answers that she totally loves him and she just forgot. Momo starts fighting with him but Okarun also refuses to back down. Suddenly, Momo asks if he loves her, then why did he tell Aira his real name and not her. Okarun shoots back that her being so concerned about this means she likes him. Suddenly, their banter is interrupted when their surroundings grow dark. The two notice a mummified man coming towards them on a bicycle. There are also a number of Serpo aliens who seem to be running toward them.

Okarun has made me so proud in this chapter and I can’t blame him for wanting to confess and try to remind Momo what they mean to each other. It’s extremely frustrating that Momo can’t remember anything, but hopefully, Okarun will be able to jog her memories. I will also always love Miko and Kei for being such huge MomoKarun supporters.
But of course, these kids can’t have a moment to themselves without a bunch of aliens or yokai trying to ruin it for them. It’s likely that Momo and Okarun will have to face the mummy-man and the Serpo aliens in the next chapters. But with none of them having their supernatural powers, it will be interesting to see what they do to fight their otherworldly foes.
