The upcoming anime movie adaptation of Kaori Mado’s light novel “Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to” (You, Fireworks, and Our Promise) has released its first trailer. The movie is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on 17 July, 2026. The new trailer has revealed two new characters and their voice actors, as well as details about the theme song. More staff members have also been introduced.

Satoshi Suzuki directs the movie at SynergySP and The Answer Studio. Kohei Mori writes the screenplay while Madoka Hosoya and michi are credited for the screenplay concept. Kenichi Tsuchiya is designing the characters for the movie based on Akamoku’s original designs.
The Japanese boy band timelesz performs the movie’s theme song ‘Kienai Hanabi’, which was previewed in the new trailer.
What is Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to about?
The film is based on the light novel written by Kaori Mado and illustrated by Akamoku. It was published by Shogakukan under its Gagaga Bunko imprint on 18 December, 2025.
The story revolves around junior high school students Makoto Natsume and Aki Hayama. The two connect over a mysterious painting of fireworks and travel to Nagaoka, Niigata to attend the famous fireworks display there. But a mystery from the past awaits them.
