It has been announced that Kaori Mado’s light novel “Kimi to Hanabito Yakusoku to” is getting an anime movie adaptation. The film will premiere in Japan on 17 July 2026. A short trailer for the movie has been released, which also introduced the main characters and their voice actors.

The two main characters of the movie and their voice actors are:
- Shori Sato (from the boy band timelesz) as Makoto Natsume
- Nanoka Hara as Aki Hayama
Satoshi Suzuki directs the movie at SynergySP and The Answer Studio. Kohei Mori writes the screenplay while Madoka Hosoya and michi are credited for the screenplay concept. Kenichi Tsuchiya is designing the characters for the movie based on Akamoku’s original designs.
The film is based on the light novel written by Kaori Mado and illustrated by Akamoku. It was published by Shogakukan under its Gagaga Bunko imprint on 18 December, 2025.
The story revolves around junior high school students Makoto Natsume and Aki Hayama. The two connect over a mysterious painting of fireworks and travel to Nagaoka, Niigata to attend the famous fireworks display there. But a mystery from the past awaits them.
