At Jump Festa 2026 in December, it was announced that the Kaiju No. 8 anime was entering its final arc with the next season. Alongside, a new short anime series titled “Narumi’s Week at Work” was also announced.
It has finally been revealed that Narumi’s Week At Work will premiere in Fall 2026, although an exact release date is yet unknown. Moreover, a brand new key visual of the short’s central character Captain Gen Narumi has also been released.

Who are the cast and staff members of Kaiju No. 8: Narumi’s Week at Work?
The main cast member of the short anime would be Kōki Uchiyama, who voices Gen Narumi. However, the voice cast hasn’t yet been confirmed.
The anime is based on the spin-off manga titled Kaiju No. 8 RELAX, by Kizuku Watanabe, who is also overseeing the series. Other staff details remain unknown.

What is Kaiju No. 8 about?
The Kaiju No. 8 anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Naoya Matsumoto. The series began publishing in July 2020 in Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ app, and ended in July 2025. The anime’s first season came out in 2024, with a second following in 2025. In July 2025, a short special episode titled ‘Hoshina’s Day Off’ also came out. Viz Media publishes the original manga series and describes the story as:
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more.
