The series is set to premiere sometime in January 2027.
In a recent update from Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine, it was revealed that the upcoming historical fiction anime “Historie”, is set to air in January 2027. The magazine also revealed the lead cast member. In a new trailer, the lead cast has been confirmed, as well as 10 other characters and voice actors. Historie is based on the manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki, the creator of Parasyte.

The cast of the anime so far includes:
- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Eumenes
- Ryōta Suzuki as Hieronymous (the Younger) (Eumenes’ older brother)
- Kazuya Ichijo as Hieronymus (the Elder) (Eumenes’ father)
- Yuko Kaida as Telesilla (Eumenes’ mother)
- Wataru Takagi as Charon (a slave of the Hieronymous family)
- Satoshi Tsuruoka as Hecateus (Hieronymous’ close aide)
- Anri Katsu as Thrax (a slave of the Scythians)
- Tsuguo Mogami as Aristotle (a great philosopher from Ancient Greece)
- Miki Kariya as Perialla (Eumenes’ childhood friend)
- Seiyu Fujiwara as Nicogenes (Eumenes’ school friend)
- Junya Enoki as Tolmides (Eumenes’ friend)
No production members have been revealed so far. LIDEN FILMS is animating the series.
What is Historie about?
The Historie manga began serialising in Kodansha's seinen magazine Monthly Afternoon on 25 January, 2003. The 12th and latest volume of the manga came out on 21 June 2024. It has over 4.7 million copies in circulation so far.
The highly acclaimed manga won the Grand Prize at the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award in 2016 and the Grand Prize In the Manga Division of the 14th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2010. Most recently, the historical epic manga has won the 49th Kodansha Manga Award in the general category in 2025.
