The anime is based on Parasyte mangaka Hitoshi Iwaaki’s 2003 historical manga.
Back in January 2026, it was announced that popular seinen manga Parasyte’s creator Hitoshi Iwaaki’s historical manga “Historie” is getting an anime adaptation. In a new update, it has been revealed that the series will premiere in January 2027. The news was announced in the July issue of Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine.

Who is the lead voice actor of Historie?
Famed voice actor Nobunaga Shimazaki, who previously voiced the Parasyte anime’s protagonist Shinichi Izumi, will be voicing Eumenes, protagonist of Histoire. The new anime reunites the author and the lead voice actor after more than a decade.
No other cast or staff details have been announced as of yet.
What is Historie about?
The Historie manga began serialsing in Kodansha's seinen magazine Monthly Afternoon on 25 January, 2003. The 12th and latest volume of the manga came out on 21 June 2024. It has over 4.7 million copies in circulation so far.
The manga won the Grand Prize at the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award in 2016 and the Grand Prize In the Manga Division of the 14th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2010. Most recently, the historical epic manga has won the 49th Kodansha Manga Award in the general category in 2025.
Kodansha publishes the series in English and describes it as:
A historical epic set in ancient times, Historie tells the story of Eumenes, a young man with quick wits and a vast destiny to fulfill. In time, he’ll become a famed army commander and personal secretary to Alexander the Great—but the road to this glory is fraught with danger…
