When will Fairy Tail Re:Fantasia begin?
Fairy Tail Re:Fantasia is scheduled to launch in the 35th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine, which is set to be released on 29 July 2026.
It is unsure if the project was the same that was originally hinted at by Mashima last April, when he confirmed that a brand new Fairy Tail series is set to launch in August 2026. The project, which is a short-term serialisation, is part of the franchise's 20th anniversary celebrations.
What is Fairy Tail?
Originally launched by Hiro Mashima in 2006, Fairy Tail follows the adventures of the infamous mage guild of the same name as its members take on dangerous jobs, battle powerful enemies, and forge lifelong bonds.
The manga ran for more than a decade before concluding in July 2017. Since then, the franchise has expanded into one of Kodansha's biggest multimedia properties, spawning multiple anime adaptations, films, OVAs, and spin-off manga series.
Over the years, Fairy Tail has received four television anime series, two anime films, several original video anime projects, and numerous spin-off manga.
Kodansha USA publishes the original manga and several of its spin-offs in English. It describes the story as:
Cute girl wizard Lucy wants to join the Fairy Tail, a club for the most powerful wizards. But instead her ambitions land her in the clutches of a gang of unsavory pirates led by a devious magician. Her only hope is Natsu, a strange boy she happens to meet on her travels. Natsu’s not your typical hero—he gets motion sickness, eats like a pig, and his best friend is a talking cat. With friends like this, is Lucy better off with her enemies?
