The 13-minute short film was shown at the EVANGELION:30+ event.

The 30th anniversary event of the “Evangelion” franchise took place on 21-23 February. Titled EVANGELION:30+, this event included the showing of a 13-minute anime short film centering around Asuka Langley Soryu, one of the most important characters of the franchise. However, the production team has confirmed that some attendees might have filmed the movie during the stage event, and has decided to crack down on illegal distribution.

Evangelion team to take action against anyone who illegally distributes the film

The official statement from the Evangelion X (formerly Twitter) account states:

Prohibited Conduct and Enforcement Policy for the "EVANGELION:30+;" STAGE AREA Performances

We have confirmed unauthorized recording at "EVANGELION:30+;" STAGE AREA performances and the unauthorized reposting/sharing of such content online.

These acts are strictly prohibited and may result in legal action.

As the organizer, we will review posts and take strict measures as necessary.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Filming at the stage area was strictly prohibited by the event management team at the EVANGELION:30+ event. However, it seems that some attendees might have recorded the movie without authorization. The team has issued a warning that the reposting or sharing of such content online is also prohibited, and they might take legal action against anyone who distributes it.

Fans are understandably upset with this turn of events, as this short-film is the first anime project of the franchise in five years. Many claim that it’s unfair that only a handful of the attendees were the ones who got to watch it, especially because it was supervised by Hideaki Anno, the creator of Evangelion. Fans are imploring the Evangelion team to make it available for streaming legally soon.

However, nothing of the sort has been confirmed by the official Evangelion accounts yet. We don’t know if the short film will ever be streamed globally.
