Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has taken home the distinction over Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc and Attack on Titan: The Last Attack.
The 2026 Saturn Awards concluded on 8 March, and with it, the reveal that The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle has won Best International Animated Film!
The ufotable production bested MAPPA's Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc, Attack on Titan The Movie: The Last Attack, and Science Saru's The Colors Within, as well as other international titles like Ne Zha 2, and Stitch Head.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle adds another award to its shelf
It's safe to say that Demon Slayer's first entry to its finale trilogy of films has been nothing short of extraordinary.
The movie highlights the first two battles featured in the Infinity Castle Arc, that being Douma versus Shinobu, Zenitsu versus Kaigaku, and Tanjiro and Giyuu versus Akaza. With such high-octane battle sequences, and an emotional undercurrent to the story, Infinity Castle debuted with a strong box office success in both domestic and international theatres. The movie is still being shown in a number of thweatres globally, and has cemented its position as Japan's highest-grossing film of all time.
The movie has broken multiple Japanese and global records since its release, and has also been nominated in, and received a number of local and international awards like: International Animation Award from the Critics' Choice Awards, Astra Film Awards for Animation is Cinema Award, and Animation of the Year at the Tokyo Anime Award festival, to name a few.
The movie also ended up being nominated in the Golden Globes, but unfortunately lost to Kpop Demon Hunters.
The second entry to the finale trilogy has been confirmed by ufotable to be in production, although an exact premiere window is yet to be revealed.
The Demon Slayer anime is directed by Haruo Sotozaki under Studio Ufotable. Akira Matsushima is the character designer and chief animation director. Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina compose the music for the series. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll have the rights to screen the three upcoming movies globally. The Infinity Castle arc is the final battle story arc of the manga by Gotouge. It focuses on the ultimate battle for survival between the Demon Slayers and the demons directly under Muzan. As the creator of all demons, Muzan is extremely powerful. But that doesn’t mean the 12 Moons, including Kokushibo, Douma, and Akaza, are any less so. Tanjiro and the rest of the Demon Slayer corps will find themselves in grave danger in the upcoming films.
