The second season of the manga's anime adaptation airs this July.
The popular historical fiction manga “The Elusive Samurai” released its final chapter on Sunday, 15 February, 2026. It was published in this year’s 12th issue of Shueisa’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine. The anime adaptation of the series will return with its second season in July 2026.
The Elusive Samurai manga has ended
The Elusive Samurai manga by Yūsei Matsui (The Assassination Classroom), began publishing in January 2021. The 238th and final chapter of the manga was released on Sunday. It was revealed that the 24th collected volume of the manga will be published on 4 March, with the 25th following on 1 May, and the 26th is coming out on 4 August. The 27th and final volume of the manga will be published in print on 2 October, 2026.
The final chapter of the manga was also simultaneously released in English on the Viz Media, Manga Plus, and Shōnen Jump+ platforms. Viz Media also publishes the collected volumes of the manga in print and describes the story as:
After the massacre of his family by the traitor Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki flees with the help of a handful of loyal retainers who have also survived the purge. One of them is Suwa Yorishige, an ally of the Hojo clan and lord of Suwa Province. The slightly odd Yorishige also claims to be clairvoyant and foretells that Tokiyuki will one day become the ruler of Japan. But for the moment, escaping from enemy territory is the priority!
The anime adaptation of the manga aired in July 2024. The Cloverworks production is coming back with the second season in July 2026. No other details about the series have been revealed as of yet.
