Yuri anime Awajima Hyakkei reveals new cast ahead of April 2026 premiere

A new character visual has also been released.

The upcoming Yuri anime Awajima Hyakkei (Scenes from Awajima) has just introduced a new cast member. The series will air in April 2026, although an exact release date is yet unknown. The adaptation is based on Takako Shimura’s musical coming-of-age drama manga series of the same name. 

Awajima Hyakkei anime cast, staff, and other details

The character of Ryōko Ueda will be voiced by popular voice actress Ai Kayano (Kanae Kocho in Demon Slayer, Nagi Aiza in Your Lie in April).

Previously announced cast members of the anime include:

  • Wakana Tabata voiced by Niina Nakabayashi
  • Kinue Takehara voiced by Yō Taichi

Morio Asaka directs the anime at Studio Madhouse. Kunihiko Hamada designs the characters while Yasuhiro Nakanishi handles series composition. Hideki Nakamura is the background art director while Junko Sakai is the compositing director. Takahiro Obata is composing the music for the upcoming musical drama anime.

The anime is based on Takako Shimura’s manga series of the same name. Yen Press has licensed the manga in English and describes the story as:

Awajima Opera School—where countless girls from across the country flock in hopes of one day standing on the big stage. As they work toward achieving their dreams of stardom, their time at Awajima is filled with as much friendship and admiration as competition and jealousy. The precious feelings of girls who are at once both classmates and rivals, tenderly captured in the portraits of an ensemble cast!
