The series will premiere in Summer 2026.

Ahead of its planned Summer release, the new “Cyborg 009: Nemesis” anime revealed the protagonist Cyborg 009 and another main character, Cyborg 008, as well as their voice actors. The series is a brand new adaptation of the Cyborg 009 manga by Shotaro Ishinomori.

Who are the staff members of the Cyborg 009: Nemesis anime?

Hideki Anbo is directing the new Cyborg 009: Nemesis anime at studio ARECT, with Ishimori Productions producing the project. Atsuhiro Tomioka and CHARATEX write the screenplay, and sanorin designs the characters.  

The theme song of the series, ‘Taga Tame ni’, was written by the original manga author Shotaro Ishinomori, who passed away in 1998. The song was originally written for the 1979 Cyborg 009 anime, and has been newly arranged for the upcoming series. Kyoko performs the new version of the song. 

What is Cyborg 009: Nemesis about?

The Cyborg 009: Nemesis anime was announced to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the original manga Cyborg 009 by Shotaro Ishinomori, which began publishing in 1964. It got several anime adaptations including in 1968, 1979, and 2001. The manga was also adapted into several anime movies and a radio drama. 

The official website describes the upcoming anime as:

For over half a century since their creation, cyborg warriors have protected humanity from various enemies that threaten peace.
However, the battle continues...

And now,
a group of nine cyborgs known as "Nemesis" has emerged, believing that the 009s alone cannot bring peace to the world.
Led by Graviton, a cyborg who can manipulate gravity, what is the ideal they are striving for?
