A new visual has been revealed for the upcoming season.
In April 2025, Detective Conan creator Gosho Aoyamaa’s popular Yaiba manga received another anime adaptation, titled: “YAIBA: Samurai Legend”. The anime is coming back with its second season on 9 January, 2027. A new key visual also revealed that the second season will cover the manga’s Kaguya Arc.

Takahiro Hasui is returning to direct the series at Wit Studio, with Studio Kurm on animation cooperation. Touko Machida is writing the scripts while Yoshimichi Kameda is the chief animation director and character designer. Maiko Okada is the animation producer, while Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa are composing the music for the series. All of them are returning staff members from season 1.

What is YAIBA: Samurai Legend about?
Gosho Aoyama serialised the Yaiba: Samurai Legend manga in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from 1988 to 1993. The first anime adaptation was pretty popular and had a total of 52 episodes, which aired from April 1993 to April 1994.
Viz Media publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:
Yaiba Kurogane has spent his days training in the jungle in order to attain his goal of becoming a real samurai. By a twist of fate, he returns to Japan and starts living with the Mine family, who are connected to his father, Kenjuro. Yaiba constantly baffles the Mines’ daughter Sayaka as she witnesses his wild and reckless ways.
One day, Yaiba tags along with Sayaka to school and has a fateful encounter with Takeshi Onimaru, a kendo expert. Yaiba and Onimaru repeatedly clash, and as if in response to their search for strength, two ancient powers are unleashed: the Fujinken, the Wind God’s Sword, and the Raijinken, the Thunder God’s Sword. Both supernatural blades that have jolted the world since ancient days have reawakened… and the truth behind them is revealed!
