Elaina’s journey continues on the silver screen!
First airing in 2020 with Season 1, the anime adaptation of the popular light novel series “Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina” by Jogi Shiraishi is continuing Elaina’s story with an anime film adaptation sequel!
The movie, which was announced during the GA Fes 2026 event, featured a brand new announcement trailer highlighting the various adventures Elaina went through alongside her friends, with a hint for what Elaina will go through, and who she will meet next.
The film adaptation is set for a theatrical release. However, further details are yet to be revealed.
The announcement trailer:
Judging from the description of the video on YouTube, it’s likely that the film is gearing for an October 2026 release, as the month marks the 10th anniversary of the publication of the original manga series, as well as the 5th anniversary of its anime adaptation.
The author, Jogi Shiraishi, released a comment celebrating the movie announcement on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating in part (through a machine translation):
"I heard the first whispers of a movie adaptation for Witch's Journey like this:"
It was right in the middle of chowing down on some meat.
"Oh, uh-huh, movie... movie?"
While gnawing on some pretty pricey meat, this totally out-of-left-field bombshell got dropped on me, and since I can't multitask even a millimeter, I kept eating while racking my brain like, wait, movie—which cut of meat was that again? Movie's delicious, huh. Movie? "...Movie?"
"Yep."
"Movie."
Ohhh... Savoring the flavor of the meat while chewing over this way-too-sudden news—did she just say movie!? Right now!?!?!?!?
And after a conversation that went something like that, lo and behold, five years after the anime's release, the movie adaptation has now been officially announced.
