The Attack on Titan VA is working on his voice AI project Soyogi Fractal.

Popular anime voice actor Yuki Kaji, known for his role as Eren Yeagar in Attack on Titan and Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia, is leaving his talent agency VIMS. The reason for his departure is to independently start his own company for his upcoming voice AI project Soyogi Fractal. Kaji will leave VIMS on 8 April, 2026, and start his own company on 9 April, 2026.

Yuki Kaji has announced his impending departure from VIMS

Kaji announced his exit from the talent agency VIMS in an X (formerly Twitter) post. The announcement reads:

This is to inform you that I have decided to leave VIMS, Inc., which I have been with for about thirteen years, and become independent. Counting from my previous agency which is a group company, it has actually been twenty-two years. I can truly say it is the place where my entire career as a voice actor was nurtured. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for finding me when I was nobody, not knowing right from left, and for establishing the foundation for me as a voice actor and a member of society.

The reason I have chosen the path of independence is simply because I want to further expand my possibilities as a voice actor and continue to challenge myself to be a greedy performer for the rest of my life. And, the indispensable pillar to achieve that goal is the existence of the voice AI project Soyogi Fractal, which I can now call my life's work.

What I aim for is a revolution in the history of voice expression, where humans and AI resonate with each other. Now that technology continues to evolve, I dare to jump into the middle of it and take the helm myself. This is because I believe in the value of the “soul of the voice” that can only be produced by a living human being more than anyone else, and I wish to protect it. I cannot approach this challenge with half-baked preparation. That is why I have launched a new team to devote my entire self to leading the project to success. As I leave the precious place that has given me so much love for many years, I will surely prove through my future activities that this decision was not wrong.

Furthermore, from Thursday, April 9th, I will take a new step as the representative director of my new company, but until Wednesday, April 8th, I intend to continue to devote myself fully as a voice actor of VIMS, Inc., Yuki Kaji. As before, I will continue to strive in my voice acting career with pride, responsibility, and dignity, so I humbly ask for your continued guidance and encouragement.

Seeking a new form of creativity that only I can produce. Bringing this fractal to the world.

The official website of VIMS has also announced Kaji’s departure with an update that states:

Thank you very much for your continued support.

We would like to inform you that Yuki Kaji will be leaving the agency and going independent on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your support of Yuki Kaji up to now.

We hope that Yuki Kaji will achieve further success with Soyogi Fractal.

We will continue to watch over and support the company as it moves forward.

We look forward to your continued support in the future.

Kaji has stated that he wishes to devote himself to Soyogi Fractal, which he calls his life’s work. On 9 April, he will become the representative director of his own company, where he will begin working with a new team for his project. As of now, no further details about the company’s name or other future projects have been announced yet.

Back in April 2024, Yuki Kaji started a crowdfunding campaign through the service Campfire to raise money for the Soyogi Fractal AI voice project. Its aim is to use Kaji’s voice to tell different stories and make songs, and also prevent the illicit use of his talents. The campaign began on 11 April, 2024 and ended on 31 May, 2024. The initial goal was to raise JP¥ 10 million (about US$ 64,191), but it raised more than three times over from 907 supporters.
