Veteran voice actor Ryō Ishihara from the Cyborg 009 franchise dies at 94

The VA voiced Cyborg 002/ Jet Link in the Cyborg 009 anime.

The Japanese talent management agency Aoni Productions announced on Wednesday 17 December that the veteran anime voice actor Ryō Ishihara has died. The VA passed away on 14 December, 2025 due to a heart failure. He was 94 years old at the time of his death.

Ryō Ishihara left a legacy behind

The veteran voice actor is known for his work as Cyborg 002/ Jet Link in the 1966 Cyborg 009 movie as well as in the 1967 Cyborg 009 and the Monster Wars movie. He also voiced the same character in the 1968 Cyborg 009 anime series. He also narrated the 1980 Cyborg 009 Gekijō Ban: Chō Ginga Densetsu, Future War Year 198X movies.

Other than the Cyborg 009 franchise, Ishihara is known for his role as Atlantar in the Yuusei Kamen anime. He also voiced Akira Yamabe in Sally the Witch (1966) and Seichi Shima in Kyoujin no Hoshi. He also narrated the Kick no Oni and Space Carrier Blue Noah anime series. 

The talented veteran voice actor was surrounded by family at the time of his passing, and the anime industry mourns his death deeply.
