Tomo Nagawa’s “Omae, Tanuki ni Naranē ka?” manga gets anime adaptation

Nippon Animation is animating the heartwarming series.

In a press release by Japanese publisher Ichijinsha, it was announced that Tomo Nagawa’s heartwarming manga series “Omae, Tanuki ni Naranē ka?” (Would you like to be a tanuki?)is getting an anime adaptation. 

A new X (formerly Twitter) account and official website have been opened for the new anime, revealing a new teaser video and key visual. However, the anime is yet to unveil a possible release window.

Who are the staff members of the Omae, Tanuki ni Naranē ka? anime?

Jun Kamiya is directing the anime at Nippon Animation, with Masaki Wachi writing and supervising the scripts. Cocoro Takemoto designs the characters while Minako Seki composes the music. 

Unfortunately, no cast members  of the anime have been announced yet. 

What is Omae, Tanuki ni Naranē ka? about?

The series is based on Tomo Nagawa’s manga, which began serialising as a webcomic on the author’s Pixiv account in 2020. In 2021, it began publishing Ichijinsha’s Pixiv Comic based website Comic Pool. The manga has nine collected volumes so far.

The creator of the manga Tomo Nagawa also released an adorable illustration to celebrate the anime adaptation.

The story of the series centres around Koganemaru, a mythical Japanese tanuki creature. He seeks out troubled humans and asks them if they want to turn into a tanuki with him, helping them process their problems and rediscover what is truly important in life.
