The anime adapts the popular Korean web novel series by Sanji Jiksong.
An official X (formerly Twitter) account for the “Tomb Raider King” anime series opened today, 16 January, confirming the adaptation, its broadcast window, cast, and opening theme song.
Additionally, a first promotional video and teaser visual has also been unveiled.

What is “Tomb Raider King” all about?
“Tomb Raider King” adapts the South Korean web novel by Sanji Jiksong. It was serialised in Kakao's digital fiction platform KakaoPage in November 2016.
The web novel would later receive a webtoon adaptation in the same platform in 2019, and would be licensed by Yen Press for an English release under their Ize Press imprint in 2022.
The anime, or rather, the aeni (Korean animation) was announced to be in development at Anime Expo 2024, with Studio EEK producing the series. The aeni is getting a Japanese release by Kadokawa through Fuji TV, Kansai Television, and through other Japanese stations in July 2026, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
As featured in the promotional video, the opening theme song “Showdown” is performed by South Korean girl band QWER. The band also released a comment video regarding their performance:
