Iro Aida’s popular manga “Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun” (Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun) is coming back on 18 August, 2026! The manga entered a long hiatus back in November 2025 due to the mangaka’s health issues.

When is the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga coming back?
According to the X (formerly Twitter) post by Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy magazine, the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga will resume publication in the magazine’s September issue, which will be released on 16 August. The manga entered a hiatus in the magazine’s December 2025 issue (released in November 2025), due to Iro Aida’s unspecified health issue.
The manga previously took a break in July 2025, only to return a month later in August.
What is Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun about?
Iro Aida’s supernatural manga series was launched in 2014 in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy magazine. The 25th collected volume of the manga was published on 27 October, 2025. Yen Press is set to publish the 24th volume of the series in English on 28 July, 2026.
The manga received an anime adaptation by Lerche, which came out in 2020. The second season of the anime aired in 2025. A different spin-off titled After School-Hanako-kun (based on the manga spin-off releasing on Pixiv) aired in 2023, with a four episode sequel airing in 2024. Crunchyroll currently streams the anime.
