Jump GIGA's 35th Summer issue will publish a one-shot special to celebrate To Love-Ru's 20th anniversary.
Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump's seasonal GIGA magazine is set to publish a special 25-page one-shot of Kentaro Yabuki and Saki Hasemi's “To Love-Ru” manga. The one-shot will celebrate the series' 20th anniversary.
Although the details of the one-shot is under wraps, Japanese fans will enjoy additional goodies with the physical copy of the magazine, like special acrylic stands and posters, when it comes out on sale on 17 August.
It is unknown if the special one-shot will receive an English release through the official global application of Shonen Jump through Viz Media.
What is To Love-Ru about?
Debuting in 2006 on Weekly Shonen Jump, To Love-Ru follows highschooler Rito Yuuki as he finds himself accidentally engaged to an alien runaway princess named Lala Satalin Deviluke. Much of the plot of the manga follows the couple's misadventures, including hilarious encounters with both human and alien girls, as well as Lala's would-be suitors.
The title is a pun on the English loan word toraburu (trouble) and rabu (love).
The series published until 2009, with a total of 18 tankobon volumes, and was followed by a sequel: “To Love-Ru Darkness”. The sequel was serialised from 2010 and 2017. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga for an English release.
The manga would later receive a number of adaptations, which include: a drama CD released in 2008, a 26-episode anime adaptation in 2008, a six episode-OVA (original video animation), and a second season between 2009 and 2010. The series has also received four video games.
