The wholesome fantasy anime continues its journey!

The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the 2024 fantasy anime The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash has confirmed that Season 2 is now in production, a year after the anime first aired.

The announcement was paired with a celebratory visual featuring the main character Ivy, as she is cuddling her slime monster familiar, Sora.

The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash Season 2 details

Unfortunately, no other details about Season 2 have been revealed, such as if the staff were retained or if there are any new voice actors joining the cast.

The anime is likely to continue where the story left off. Season 1 covered roughly the first two novels in the light novel series it is based on, which covered Ivy’s survival, meeting Sora, escaping dangerous towns, and uncovering a criminal organisation.

With the pace set by Season 1, Season 2 is also likely to cover Volumes 3 and 4, where Ivy and Sora meet a mysterious new companion whose hardship reflects her own. With her journey ever moving forward, Ivy must face new challenges and solve them with her own power.

Season 1 aired from 12 January to 29 March, 2024, and was directed by Naoki Horiuchi at Studio Massket. Shigesayu Yamauchi served as chief director, while Katsuhiko Takayama wrote the scripts, and Feng Chung Hu and Yuki Ikeda designed the characters.

Season 1 is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
