The official X (formerly Twitter) account of “The Quintessential Quintuplets” has unveiled a new anime project that is now in production. The project is set to adapt the “Four Seasons” sequel novels of the series into a television anime, as well as a new OVA that will feature stories from the manga that are yet to be adapted.
The announcement was paired with a trailer, although other information, like staff, studio, or release date, is yet to be revealed.
What can we expect from the new The Quintessential Quintuplets anime project?
The new anime project, as described by the production team, will be a television anime adaptation of the complete sequel novel by Hajime Asano, who was supervised by the original author Negi Haruba. The series, titled “The Quintessential Quintuplets [ Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter]” (unofficial English title) will depict a continuation of the original story, and will follow the daily lives of the quintuplets from their third year of high school to all the way to after their graduation.
The OVA (Original Video Animation) will on the other hand, feature never-before animated scenes from the manga in new special episodes.
Additionally, a manga adaptation for the sequel novel is now in the works.
What is “The Quintessential Quintuplets” about?
“The Quintessential Quintuplets” is a japanese manga series written and illustrated by Negi Haruba. The manga was serialised in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine from August 2017 to February 2020, with a total of 14 volumes. The series was licensed for English release by Kodansha USA.
An anime adaptation premiered in January 2019, and was later on followed by another season and a movie. Crunchyroll streams the series and describes the story as:
