What is Kamen Rider about?
Created by manga author Shotaro Ishinomori, the original Kamen Rider series debuted in 1971. The story follows Takeshi Hongo (played by Hiroshi Fujioka), a motorcyclist who was unwillingly transformed into a superpowered cyborg by the evil organisation Shocker.
Since then, Kamen Rider has spawned 36 live-action TV series (with a 37th, Kamen Rider MY-TH, set to begin broadcasting in Japan in September 2026), alongside numerous manga, films, video games, and anime, including the recent Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider.
