The manga is set to return in September 2026.
The editorial team behind The Isekai Doctor: Any Sufficiently Advanced Medical Science Is Indistinguishable from Magic (Kōdo ni Hattatsu Shita Igaku wa Mahō to Kubetsu ga Tsukunai) has confirmed that the series will be pausing publication, with creator Nobuhide Takishita stepping away for parental leave. The announcement was made on 2 April through Morning Two, where the series is currently serialised.
The team noted that the series will come back in a more “enhanced” form, while thanking readers for their continued support during the hiatus.
Tsuda likewise confirmed the hiatus on the official X account on 9 April, asking fans to continue supporting the series, commonly referred to as “Koimaho” in Japan, while it remains on break.

Why is The Isekai Doctor going on hiatus?
The break comes as Takishita begins childcare leave following the birth of his child. In a handwritten message shared alongside the announcement, he confirmed, “I’ll be taking parental leave,” while apologising for the sudden nature of the news and thanking readers who have supported the series.
He acknowledged that The Isekai Doctor is a story that often leaves readers eager for what happens next, adding that he feels sorry to make fans wait. At the same time, he shared that he has been enjoying planning future developments, which has made the pause feel “restless” from his perspective as well.
Takishita also reflected on the decision with a touch of humour, noting that writing a character like Amami would feel inconsistent if he were someone who could simply say he did not care about parenting. He asked readers for their understanding and encouraged them to wait for the series’ return.
When will The Isekai Doctor manga return?
The manga is currently slated to resume serialisation in September, following an approximately six-month hiatus.
Takishita teased that Episode 49 will feature significant developments, encouraging readers to look forward to what comes next once the series returns.
Both the editorial department of Morning Two and the wider production team expressed their support for Takishita’s decision. The statement emphasised appreciation for readers’ continued backing and reiterated plans for the series’ return later this year.
Takishita also shared his gratitude on the social platform X, thanking readers, editors, and staff for their understanding. He extended special thanks to Hokou Tsuda, who oversees the original story and medical aspects of the series.
