A brand new website and X (formerly Twitter) account opened to announce that Izushiro’s light novel series “The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan” (Saikyō Mahōshi no Inton Keikaku) is getting an anime adaptation in 2027. A new trailer and teaser visual were revealed, alongside details about the main cast and staff.

Who are the main cast and staff members of The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan?
The anime’s main character Alus Reigin is being voiced by Yūto Uemura. No other characters or voice actors have been revealed as of yet.
Yusuke Suzuki directs the anime at studio HOTLINE, series composition written by Gigaemon Ichikawa. Yuki Kitajima is designing the characters while Takatoshi Hamano handles sound direction.
What is The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan about?
The fantasy anime is based on a novel series written by Izushiro and illustrated by Ruria Miyuki. It began serialising in the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2014. Later, Hobby Japan started publishing the story in print format with illustrations by Miyuki in 2017. A manga adaptation by Yu Uonuma began on the Comic Fire manga website in the same year. A second manga adaptation by Karu Yoneshiro titled The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan: The Alternative began serialising in Square Enix’s Manga UP! website in 2020 and ended in 2023.
J-Novel Club publishes the light novels in English and describes the story as:

To celebrate the anime adaptation of the original novel, a prequel manga series titled The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan Zero -The Secret History of the Beginning- (Saikyō Mahōshi no Inton Keikaku Zero -Hajimari no Hishi-roku-) illustrated by Yoneshiro will launch this winter. It will follow Alus’ life in the academy and connect to the main story eventually.
