The announcement, which was made through the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the series, revealed that author and illustrator Saka Mikami will be taking a three-week break on the series, citing that they will take a short rest due to their packed schedule prior.
The series recently concluded its dramatic school arc, which saw Kaoruko and Rintaro navigate a tense situation regarding Kaoruko's homeroom teacher and guidance counselor, Ayame Toki.

Mikami revealed that the series will restart serialisation on 14 May, 2026.

I will be taking a three-week break. Due to consecutive weeks of increased page counts, combined with business trips, book development, and other unpublished work, my schedule has been quite tight, so I decided to take a short rest before restarting.
The school arc concluded with last week's paid episode 187. It turned out to be quite a long story, but I'm grateful for your continued support. Personally, it was a story where I couldn't let my guard down for even a moment, so I felt the same level of tension as when the series first started. (laughs) I hope I was able to deliver something that everyone could enjoy.

One day, high school second-year Rintaro Tsumugi, a fierce-looking but gentle-minded student at Chidori, is helping at his family's patisserie when he encounters a female customer by the name of Kaoruko Waguri. Rintaro enjoys his time with Kaoruko, as she doesn't judge him for his appearance, but this blissful peace is quickly disturbed when Rintaro makes the discovery that Kaoruko is actually a student at Kikyo.
