The Summer 2026 fantasy anime “The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System” has finished its first cour with episode 12. The series will begin its second cour starting with the 13th episode coming out on 2 October, 2026. Ahead of the release new cast and theme song details have been revealed in the anime’s new trailer.

The anime will return with its second cour on 2 October, 2026 (1 October after midnight in Japan). Crunchyroll will continue to stream the new episodes as they air.
The trailer also unveiled the opening theme song of the cour ‘Rewrite the Answer’ performed by Hololive VTuber Tokoyami Towa, and the ending theme song ‘Contemporary Dance’ performed by the rock band PompadollS.

What is The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System about?
The anime is based on a Japanese novel series written by Nekoko and illustrated by Jaian. It first began serialising in April 2021 in the user generated site Shōsetsuka ni Narō. In June 2022, Kodansha began publishing the novel in a book format under their Kodansha Ranobe Books light novel imprint. A manga adaptation by Lee Brocco began publishing in Kodansha’s YanMaga Web website in February 2022. Later it was transferred to the Weekly Young Magazine in September 2024.
KManga releases the manga digitally in English and describes the story as:
“You useless son of mine! You were supposed to pull master swordsman, but I never thought it would be this tragic!“
The day a child turns fifteen, they undergo the Ritual of Divine Blessing. Already descended from a line of master swordsmen, Elymas was supposed to succeed his father.
