“The Drops of God” anime adaptation announced, premiering 2026

The main cast of the series has been revealed.

It has been announced that the manga series The Drops of God, is getting an anime adaptation in 2026. Although the exact debut date hasn’t been disclosed, the series has released a short trailer, as well as details about its main cast.

The Drops of God anime cast, staff, and other details

The main cast of the anime includes:

  • Kazuya Kamenashi as Shizuku Kanzaki
  • Maaya Uchida as Miyabi Shinohara
  • Takuya Sato as Issei Tomine

Kamenashi also starred as Kanzaki in a live-action adaptation of the manga.

Kenji Itoso is directing the anime at Satelight studio. Yuu Mitsuru is writing the scripts and handling the series composition. Takehiro Suwa designs the characters while Eishi Segawa composes the music for the upcoming series.

The Drops of God anime is adapted from a manga series written by Tadashi Agi (a pseudonym for brother and sister duo Yuko and Shin Kibayashi) and illustrated by Shu Okimoto. It was in Kodansha’s Weekly Morning magazine from 2004 to 2014. It was adapted into a live-action Korean drama series in 2008, and a Japanese live-action drama in 2009 (in which Kamenashi starred). A 2023 drama has also debuted on AppleTV+.

Kodansha describes the story of the manga as:

Yutaka Kanzaki, a wine critic whose reviews have enough clout to move the industry worldwide, has died—leaving behind a wine collection worth over two billion yen. Only the one who can name his favorite bottles, plus vintages, will inherit this dream of a cellar. It’s a battle between Yutaka’s biological son Shizuku and adopted child Issei to identify these “Twelve Apostles”—along with the very best wine in his collection, the so-called “Drops of God.”
