The simple and fun fantasy story with a found family trope comes with a twist!
During the Anime Festival Asia 2025, we at GosuAnime got a chance to watch the exclusive world premiere of the first episode of upcoming fantasy anime The Daily Life of a Single 29-Year-Old Adventurer. Based on Ippei Nara’s manga series, the anime follows an adventurer who finds a child during one of his dungeon dives, and she becomes a part of his life.
The Daily Life of a Single 29-Year-Old Adventurer: first look and impressions
As previously mentioned, the story of this anime revolves around Hajime Shinonome, a 29-year old adventurer who lost his parents at a young age and went through many hardships to get where he is now. At present, he is a pragmatic and kind fellow who helps the various people of the village he lives in, and often heads to dungeons to kill monsters and extract their meat.
During one of these dungeon dives, Hajime comes across a weak but brave child called Rirui. After rescuing and seeing that Rirui is also an orphan much like himself, Hajime feels pity and takes her under his wing. With the help of the kind villagers, he starts to train and feed Rirui regularly. But it seems that every night, Rirui’s body mysteriously changes…
The first episode of the anime set up the premise of the upcoming story. We are not going to spoil Rirui’s transformation for you, as it would be better as a surprise. But depending on the route the story takes, this anime has all the qualities of becoming a sweet, found-family fantasy story with a father and his adoptive daughter. The animation standard is good, although nothing groundbreaking. Hopefully in future episodes, we will see an improvement in both the storytelling and the animation of the series.
