What is Hyakkano all about?

“The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You” is a harem romantic comedy that follows Rentaro Aijou, a normal high schooler who hasn’t had any luck with romance, as he has been rejected by his crushes 100 times.

Desperate to get that “spring of his youth”, Rentaro trekked to a shrine where he prays to finally encounter his future soulmate–however, the god of love appears and reveals a shocking future for him: Rentarou is destined to have 100 soulmates!

And it doesn’t end there. If Rentarou doesn’t return any of his soulmates’ feelings for him, a terrible fate (AKA death) awaits them. As such, Rentarou resolves to find all of his soulmates and love them all equally, thereby saving their lives while getting the ladies of his dreams.

So far, Rentarou has bagged 11 out of 100 girlfriends, and ended Season 2 on a high note where his voice actor, Wataru Kato, even received a Guinness World Record for the whopping 7,453–character love speech he had to perform during the finale.

What can we expect with Season 3?

Season 3 is sure to amp up the ridiculous premise of this anime, so we can new girls joining Rentarou’s Family! And with tons of gags, puns, and comedy to look forward to, Season 3 will most likely make viewers laugh until their stomachs hurt.

The visual has actually revealed who the two new girlfriends will be, they are:

  • Chiyo In–Rentarou's 13-year old cousin; a strict perfectionist who cries and gets frustrated when things are disorganised.
  • Nadeshiko Yamato–Rentarou's English teacher; she pretends to be American even though she is actually fully Japanese. She likes to be called “Miss Naddy” by her students.

The voice actoirs for these two new characters are still unknown, but we can expect further updates in the future.

Bibury Animation Studio is once again animating Season 3, however, the staff are yet to be announced.

Season 1 and 2 are available to watch on Crunchyroll.
