The upcoming second feature film in the “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” anime franchise is set to premiere in Japan on 27 February, 2026. Ahead of the release, the movie unveiled two new characters as well as their voice actors. More details about the film’s insert song was also revealed.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime second film new cast and other details
The two new characters that have been introduced are both original characters created for the movie. The new voice actors who will voice them are:
- Nao Kosaka as Mio
- Kaho Fujishima as Yori
Both Mio and Yori are shrine maidens in this movie. Nao and Kaho are members of the musical group Hinatazaka46.
Previously announced new cast members of the film includes:
- Saori Onishi as Yura
- Koichi Domoto as Zodon
- Koji Yusa as Djeese
Three insert songs for the movie have been announced so far. Including, ‘Sōkoku’ performed by cast member Saori Onishi, ‘Renainō’ performed by six-member unit ARCANA PROJECT, and ‘Harmonics’ performed by STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION and ASH from ASH DA HERO. The three songs, along with theme song ‘Utopia’ by TRUE will go on sale on February 28 in a limited first edition and a regular edition.
Eight Bit continues to produce the movie, titled That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea. The main cast from the original anime is returning for the film. The movie features a completely new story by series’ author Fuse, which isn’t adapted from a manga or light novel.
The story of the movie takes place after the opening ceremony of the Jura Tempest Foundation. The ruler of the Elf nation of Sarion, Elmesia, invites Rimuru and his friends to a resort island she owns. Rimuru and his companions enjoy the short vacation. However, the appearance of a girl named Yura changes everything, as they are now forced to face a new threat.
The movie premiers in Japan on 27 February. Crunchyroll and Sony Entertainment Pictures are set to release the movie globally in theaters. Unfortunately, the global release date is yet to be announced.
The anime series and movies are based on the light novel series written by Fuse, and illustrated by Mitz Vah. It also has a manga adaptation as well as multiple manga spin-offs. The first season of the anime aired in 2018, with the second following in 2021. The second spin-off manga was adapted into an anime in the same year. The first anime film of the franchise came out in 2022 with a three-episode ONA titled Visions of Coleus following in 2023. The third season of the main anime came out in 2024. Other than the upcoming movie, the fourth season of the main anime is also under production. However, its release date still remains unknown.
