A new teaser video has been released for the upcoming anime “Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun” (Tenkaichi: Nihon Saikyō Bugeisha Ketteisen). The video revealed the anime’s April 2027 premiere window, main cast, staff, and other details. The anime is based on Yōsuke Nakamaru’s manga illustrated by Kyōtarō Azuma.

The three main cast members of the anime are:
- Gen Sato as Miyamoto Musashi
- Kenichirō Matsuda as Honda Tadakatsu
- Kenyū Horiuchi as Oda Nobunaga
The anime will air sometime in April 2027.
Masashi Abe directs the anime at studio Fugaku, with Kazuharu Sato writing the show’s scripts. Ryōji Nakamori designs the characters while Hayato Matsuo composes the music.
What is Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun about?
Yōsuke Nakamaru and Kyōtarō Azuma launched the alternate history manga in Kodansha’s "Young Magazine the 3rd" manga magazine in January 2021. In the same year, it was transferred to the Monthly Young Magazine after the former magazine was disbanded.
Kodansha publishes the manga in English via their K Manga platform, and describes the story as:
This is not history as we know it. The year is 1600. Ten years have passed since Oda Nobunaga unified the whole of Japan. When Nobunaga realizes he is nearing the end of his life, he announces that he will hand over the reins of power to whoever brings him the strongest warrior. The generals, whose dreams of conquering the country had been crushed, put up their own strongest warriors and aim to become the king of the country!
