The series is an adaptation of the Suikoden II game.
It was announced back in 2025, that the popular game Suikoden II, the second part of the Suikoden RPG gaming series, is getting an anime adaptation. The series is titled “Suikoden: The Anime” and is set to premiere in October 2026. The new trailer of the series has also revealed additional cast members.

Yuzo Sato directs the anime at Konami Digital Entertainment. Michihiro Tsuchiya handles series composition while Ryo Yamauchi is the character designer. Koji Nakamura is the music composer for the series.
The Suikoden II game, which the anime is based on, came out back in 1998 on Playstation. It’s a turn-based RPG game published by Konami. Steam describes the story of Suikoden II as:
Our story's hero and his friend Jowy are members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade, which participated in a drawn-out border dispute between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowston .
A few months earlier, a truce agreement was signed between the two forces, both of which were happy to see an end to the fighting.
