One of Japan’s most popular superheroes is coming back to the big screens! The ‘Soreike! Anpanman’ anime series is coming back with a brand new movie titled ‘Chapon no Hero!’ Or Chapon’s Hero!
The official Anpanman Anime X (formerly Twitter) account revealed that the next movie of the series will be released in theatres across Japan on June 27, 2025. This means that just after a few months, fans will be introduced to the new character Chapon. The announcement also includes an illustration of Anpanman and Chapon.
As per the reveal, the story of this movie will revolve around the fan-favourite hero, who finds a mysterious little boy named Chapon. The boy, who fell from the sky, doesn’t know who he is or where he came from. After meeting Anpanman, he starts finding joy in helping everyone and bringing a smile to people’s faces and looks up to the hero as an older brother. But suddenly, the villain Baikinmon appears and claims to know the secret behind Chapon’s origins. Fans are excited to see Anpanman and Chapon team up to defeat the villain and for the little boy to become an integral part of the franchise. The movie is being produced by Yanase Studio.
Anpanman is a superhero who has an anpan (red bean paste bread) for a head. Massively popular amongst Japanese children, he was created by Takashi Yanase, a master cartoonist who created a picture book series based on this character. Anpanman remains one of the most popular superheroes loved by everyone in Japan despite being created more than 50 years ago. The character has inspired the popular One-Punch Man manga series by One and the song Anpanman by South Korean boyband BTS.
