A report from D&C Media confirms that the anime won’t return as soon as viewers had hoped.

Based on Chugong’s webnovel and its webtoon adaptation, the “Solo Leveling” anime quickly became one of the most popular series when it came out in 2024. Season 2 was released in 2025 and was an even bigger success. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for news about the third season of the anime, and it seems that we finally have something concrete. Unfortunately, the third season probably won’t return until 2027-2028.

Who revealed the possible release window for Solo Leveling Season 3?

There is no official announcement about when the third season of Solo Leveling will be released. However, publishing company D&C Media, the owner of Solo Leveling’s IP and one of the biggest players in the franchise, has just released their financial report for the fourth quarter of the 2024-2025 financial year.

One of the sections in the report is dedicated to the Solo Leveling anime and details each season and its episode count. The section’s final entry states “Season 3 of the anime confirmed (expected 2027-2028)"– which means the third season of Solo Leveling will be released either next year or in 2028. The official accounts of the anime will likely release an official announcement about the series soon.

Although fans expected Solo Leveling to release one season every year, it seems the franchise intends to take its sweet time for the third installment. This means fans will have to wait another year or maybe even more to finally watch the next part of Jin-woo’s action packed journey.

What is Solo Leveling about?

Solo Leveling is produced by A-1 Pictures. The anime is based on Chugong’s fantasy webnovel which began publishing in Kakao’s digital publication platform KakaoPage in 2016. It received a webtoon adaptation illustrated by Jang Sung-rak in 2018. Yen Press releases the novel series and webtoon in English. Crunchyroll streams the first two seasons of the anime and describes the story as:

They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo came back with the System, a program only he could see, that’s leveling him up in every way. Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them.
