What is Solo Leveling: Beyond The System about?
The announcement revealed that the movie will pick up right off where Season 2 ended. With the Jeju Island Raid leaving heavy losses and gains for Sung Jinwoo, he sets off to create his own guild as the Americans scramble to recruit him. With politics now acting as an obstacle to Jinwoo's goals of leveling up, a deadly invasion is just over the horizon, spelling doom and destruction for the world if successful.
Solo Leveling is produced by A-1 Pictures. The anime is based on Chugong’s fantasy webnovel which began publishing in Kakao’s digital publication platform KakaoPage in 2016. It received a webtoon adaptation illustrated by Jang Sung-rak in 2018. Yen Press releases the novel series and webtoon in English. Crunchyroll streams the first two seasons of the anime and describes the story as:
They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo came back with the System, a program only he could see, that’s leveling him up in every way. Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them.
