The upcoming sci-fi anime is being helmed by renowned director Munehisa Sakai.
Toho Animation has unveiled a massive new update for “Snowball Earth”, the upcoming anime adapting Yuhiro Tsujitsugu’s hit seinen manga. The update included a main cast reveal, a teaser visual, promotional video, and a broadcast window of April 2026.

The main cast are:
- Takuto Yoshinaga as Tetsuo Yabusame
- Daisuke Hirakawa as Yukio
- Ami Koshimizu as Ao Nogi
- Konomi Tamura as Hagane Takamura
Munehisa Sakai, a renowned director who has worked on One Piece, Sailor Moon, Dance Dance Danseur, and Zombie Land Saga, is helming the adaptation at Studio Kai. Takeshi Iwata is serving as assistant director, and Shigeru Murakoshi is doing series composition. Character designs are by Toshiya Kano, who is also chief animation director. Tatsuya Kato, Hiroaki Tsutsumi, and Kanesaka are composing the music.
The anime is premiering sometime in April 2026, although an exact date is yet to be announced.

Yukio was destroyed in battle and Tetsuo survived in an escape pod. After eight years in cold sleep, the escape pod finally lands back on Earth. But when Tetsuo emerges he finds a world in ruins, entirely frozen beneath a blanket of ice and snow—snowball Earth! What happened to humanity, how did the planet freeze over, and will Tetsuo be able to keep his last promise to Yukio?
